MTB TRAILS:  Balconata del Cervino

Balconata del Cervino A thrilling excursion on the “Grande Balconata del Cervino” trail. On the panoramic paths of the upper mountain that completely surround Valtournenche. The ambitious descent that starts from 2500m (Lake Goillet), arriving in Saint-Vincent. The focal point of the track, with its huge larches and ample countryside, is the pyramid of the Matterhorn (Cervino in Italian), which inspires powerful emotions. The large elevation gain, considerable length, high altitude and prolonged effort will test a mountain biker’s limits. From Saint-Vincent, we go back up by taxi to reach Breuil-Cervinia, where we will ascend to 2500m using the chairlifts or gondolas. On this excursion, we will encounter white paths and roads that characterise the valleys of Chamois and Cheneil; small, characteristic villages that offer striking views of the surrounding hills of this part of Valle d’Aosta, indisputably dominated by the Matterhorn.

MTB TRAILS: Il giro dei Castelli

DAY 1: From Saint-Vincent we head towards Fort Bard in the lower valley. A trail of ups and downs. For long stretches, we will follow the Via Francigena, which led the pilgrims from far-away England to Rome. We will pass along the ancient Roman roads, where the furrows left hundreds of years ago by the Roman carriages are still evident in the paving. It is on this part of the ride that we will pass Verrès Castle, we will stop to visit Issogne Castle and lastly, we will reach Vard, with its fort. The tour will end in Pont Saint Martens, where we will stop at the local railway station to load our bikes and return to the starting point.
DAY 2: Departing again from Saint-Vincent, this time in the direction of the upper valley; more precisely towards Fenis Castle. From a cycling perspective, this excursion is more interesting, we follow a wide road midway up the mountain for much of the way which leads us to Gamba Castle. Two interesting days, panoramas, history and the life of the valley will lift your spirits, leaving you with good feelings.

MTB TRAILS: Col de Joux

Col de Joux is connected to Saint-Vincent by the Evançon valley. The mountain is separated between two valleys, the Centrale and the Ayas and has many secular pines. An easy to ride trail winds along the banks of the “Ru Courthod”, running water originating from the Gorner Glacier on Monte Rosa used to irrigate Saint-Vincent’s agricultural slopes as far as the Erésaz plateau, notable for the panorama and all-round views of the Natural Park, protected by Mont Avic. One of Pope John Paul II favourite walking destinations. For the more daring, there is an alternative trail, the “Giro dei Tre Colli” - the tour of the three hills. Col De Joux, Col Tzevore and Col D'Arlaz. With a visit to the Lake Villa Nature Reserve.
